Conference Audience and Objectives
The 2009 Mental Health Conference is designed for professionals, clinicians, administrators, educators, consumers, family members, advocates and other providers.
• Provide an educational opportunity to hear professionals and experts share the most recent trends and issues, treatment methods, and research relating to mental health, mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Provide a forum to stimulate discussion, exchange ideas, and strengthen the support and information network around the state.
• Generate public interest in issues relating to mental health and co-occurring disorders.
Continuing Education Information
Iowa Board of Certification has approved 12.25 hrs, Category A: C-occurring Disorders Specific Training or Counseling Theories & Techniques or Generic.
This program complies with the standards and criteria in Chapter 281 Continuing Education for Social Workers for 12.25 CEU contact hours.
The Family Planning Council of Iowa is an Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) Approved Provider, No. 262. The Family Planning Council of Iowa has approved 0.7 on day one, 0.6 on day two or 1.3 for both days. The IBON requires that a participant attend in full for CEU credit. Partial credit may be awarded in extreme emergency circumstances.
This conference has been approved in the past as continuing education by some of the following professional boards for licensure renewal: Mental Health Counselors, Psychologists and Residential Administrators. However, the boards no longer provide prior/post approval for continuing education. Each licensee should refer to the respective board’s administrative rules to determine if this conference or portions of this conference fall within the content areas outlined by the board for continuing education. Getting Around Ames
To get to the Scheman Building: I-35 to Hwy 30 West; Hwy 30 West to University Boulevard, Exit 146 (formerly known as Elwood Drive); University Boulevard North. The entrance is before the light at Lincoln Way.
The Mental Health Conference will provide a bus free of charge that will transport participants from AmericInn Parking lot (adjacent to Heartland Inn and Country Inn & Suites) to the Schemen each morning and from the Scheman back to AmericInn at the end of each day.
