DOA: Drugs of Abuse Today

This program is designed to provide up-to-date information of the dangers and clinical effects associated with contemporary drugs of abuse.  Substances include alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, cocaine, methamphetamine, hallucinogens and commonly abused Rx and OTC drugs including opioids (narcotic painkillers), depressants (sleeping pills or anti-anxiety drugs), stimulants (ADHD drugs) and dextromethorphan (cough medicine).  Lesser-known drugs of abuse such as salvia divinorum, khat and kratom will also be covered.  Abuse patterns, range of toxicity, clinical effects, and overdose management will be discussed.
